Transport Co-ordinator
Location: Carnforth Head Office
Terms: Full time – 08:00 – 17:00 (Monday to Friday)
Reports To: Transport Manager
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

About the Role:
The Transport Assistant ensures products are compliant with global regulations and sourced responsibly. This role requires attention to detail, up-to-date knowledge of market developments, and government legislation. Key responsibilities include organising, planning, and managing transport operations, ensuring efficient delivery routes, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders. Additionally, the Transport Assistant supports customer service, handles dispatch issues, and oversees general office administration.

Responsibilities:
  • Transport Operations:
    • Process picking lists and issue them to the warehouse using OGL system.
    • Plan delivery routes using cost-effective methods, utilising our own fleet.
    • Reschedule held orders and coordinate with the warehouse for dispatch.
    • Maintain daily planning sheets and track transport supplier rebates.
    • Book transport services with in-house vehicles or third-party providers.
    • Liaise with customers for pre-delivery checks and post-delivery services.
    • Manage relationships with transport partners in key regions like Ireland, Denmark, New Zealand, and Portugal.
    • Monitor legal compliance around transport operations (training provided).
  • Customer Service & Support:
    • Address customer service queries related to dispatch errors.
    • Handle the return process in line with company policies.
    • Collect payments for ad-hoc orders, e.g., accessories.
    • Assist drivers with collections, deliveries, and showroom inquiries.
    • Direct customer service issues to the appropriate department.
  • Administration & Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to site Health & Safety procedures and local government guidelines.
    • Manage general office administration tasks.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • Transport profit margins within set tolerance levels.
  • Customer satisfaction levels.
  • Speed and accuracy in processing orders and resolving issues.
  • Efficient management of transport operations and cost control.
  • Effective relationship management with transport companies.
  • Safety compliance and adherence to Health & Safety procedures.
Fulfilment Metrics:
  • Transport costs versus budget.
  • On-time, in-full delivery rates.
  • Safety records.
Product Metrics:
  • Efficient processing of product returns.
  • Conversion rates and lead generation.
  • Key account management and fostering repeat business.
Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport and strengthen the brand’s reputation. Additional requirements include:
