Corporate Social Responsibility

As a growing corporate organisation, we believe that we have a clear obligation and responsibility to serve the wider community’s needs. We have a proud history of involvement in organisations, charities, educational centres and trusts in the Northwest and Yorkshire regions and provide a range of support including supporting local charities and non-for-profit organisations with not only financial support and donations, but also our time. By doing so we are able to offer our staff a sense of involvement and participation in the community and we actually offer our staff the opportunity to take 2 days per year, fully paid, to engage in charity work of their choice.

Charity Partner – Wigan Youth Zone

Wigan Youth Zone (WYZ) seeks to provide opportunities for the young people of Wigan to access a wide range of enriching resources and programs. More than just simply getting young people off the streets, it is a facility where they can be supported and mentored to develop real and achievable aspirations for their future. The Youth Zone is a credit to Wigan and the surrounding area, and with some of our staff living in the town including our Executive Chairman David Moore as well as Dan Calland, Yvonne Foster, Kat Goulding and Georgia Grange, we are proud to support WYZ as a company.

Wigan Youth Zone is a fantastic charity which is backed by Wigan Council and local businesses including ourselves, so there is a great opportunity for cross-sector partnership to raise the aspirations of the young people in the area. Since its founding in 2013, WYZ has made a huge contribution to the local community. With us having an office in Lancashire, this enables us to provide a direct level of local support to WYZ as we continue to find innovative ways to fundraise and connect our network of local contacts with the charity.

Charity Partner – Street Soccer Academy

Street Soccer Academy is a professional service provider that specialises in the rehabilitation and reintegration of people with, or at risk of developing, complex and multiple needs.

Using soccer as its main tool to connect with people, Street Soccer work on behalf of some of the nation’s hardest to reach groups within our communities including, people with homeless related issues, ex-offenders, those recovering from addictions and mental health problems.

Street Soccer Academy’s model revolves around incentivised living programmes which aim to motivate individuals to overcome long-term issues and barriers to development. Working with individuals with problems related to homelessness, offending behaviour, substance misuse, long-term unemployment and health issues, Street Soccer Academy provide a robust support framework within which these issues can be addressed. Our Operations Director, Mark Turley, is on the Board of Directors and we’re therefore proud to support Street Soccer Academy and the work they are doing to connect with people by using the power of football.

Charity Partner – Rainbow Trust Children's Charity

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity supports families who have a child aged 0-18 years with a life-threatening or terminal illness. When a child has a serious illness, family life is turned upside down and time becomes more precious than ever. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker who enables them to make the most of their time together, giving them practical and emotional support, whenever they need it, for as long as is needed. Rainbow Trust supports the whole family including parents, carers, the unwell child, siblings, and grandparents. Support is varied depending on the needs of the family and it can involve driving families to medical appointments to help save time and money, and organising fun activities to help sick children, their brothers, and sisters. Rainbow Trust’s vital service is available at no cost to families and the support they provide can be the difference between a family coping and a family falling apart. Our very own Harriett Busbyhelped raise over £19,500 for Rainbow Trust when she rode from London to Paris as part of a fundraising bike ride. We are already planning our next big charity fundraiser for the charity...the 2023 Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge!

Charity Partner – Stand By Me

Stand by Me rescues children from extreme circumstances, doing whatever it takes to provide the care, love and attention they need to thrive. They care for over 4,000 children across the world, from Myanmar to Colombia to Kenya. No two are the same, some are orphaned, some abandoned, some abused or living in extreme poverty, so they take care to understand and meet each of their individual needs from food and healthcare, to loving parents and quality education.

Stand by Me support children for the long term, until they reach their potential, stand on their own two feet and become who they were created to be. We are proud to support Stand By Me and some of our staff members (Mark Turley and David Moore) are personally involved in the organisation too.

Charity Partner - The Message Trust

Founded in the mid-1990s, the Message Trust is an award-winning charity working to improve the lives of young people in the UK and beyond through work in schools, prisons and communities. Working in partnership with churches and other organisations, The Message is in contact with around 100,000 young people each year. In 2018, The Message was named ‘the Best Non-For-Profit To Work For’ in the Sunday Times’ annual Best Companies survey.

Today, The Message Trust offer training and jobs in nine social enterprises. Axon Moore are proud to be long-term supporters of The Message Trust, engaging in various charity events over the years. In 2017, David Moore and Mark Turley took part in a 900km 'Red to Dead Sea' bike ride, which raised an incredible £175,000 for the charity.

The Message Trust also run a Community Grocery Store to help the local community access low cost weekly shops and reduce food waste. This is a great venture and we were delighted to donate a collection of old laptops to them before Christmas.

Charity Partner – Full Time on Cancer FC

Full Time on Cancer FC was founded following a charity football match which exceeded expectations by raising over £1,000. After such a successful first game, the players wanted to make their love a football a full-time endeavour for the benefit of charity. Due to a large number of team members being parents, childhood cancer was decided to be the main aim of the team’s fundraising and Full Time on Cancer FC was born.

A partnership between Full Time on Cancer FC and Avro FC was formed, which enabled the use of Avro FC’s 1,500 capacity Vestacare Stadium for all future charity matches. This enabled them to fill up their calendar with games dedicated to raising money for incredibly worthy childhood cancer charities. This gave birth to other partnerships with the likes of CLIC Sargent, a national charity dedicated to supporting young people with cancer in a variety of ways and Maggie’s Oldham, which is a cancer support and care centre to help patients in the local area with a whole host of cancer related challenges. They raised £3,000 for Maggie's Centre which provides free cancer support and information in centres across the UK.

When cancer strikes young lives, all associations fight tirelessly to limit the damage it causes beyond their health. Our very own Aaron Conneran is heavily involved in the charity having lost his Dad to cancer in April 2020. We’re proud to support Full Time on Cancer and the work they’re doing to help those affected by this vicious illness. Read more about Aaron’s involvement here.

Ukraine Fundraiser – Miles for Ukraine

Ukraine is facing an urgent humanitarian crisis and hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Ukrainian refugees are having to flee for their lives following the invasion of their country.

Such sad news on the other side of Europe has inspired our Director Linzie Strickland to assemble a team to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee - Ukraine Appeal to help Ukrainian refugees whose lives will never be the same again.

Between them, the team are going to cover a grand total of 1,500 miles over the next month, which equates to the distance a refugee would need to travel from Ukraine to Manchester. Team members have the option to walk, run, cycle or if they're brave, to even swim the distance from Ukraine to Manchester! Click for more info.
