Management Accountant | Leeds | Up to £45k | Hybrid – 3 days in the Office | Tech

Role Overview

Axon Moore are excited to be working with an excellent client based in Central Leeds to recruit a Management Accountant to join their small but face paced team on a permanent basis.

The role will require an individual, who can demonstrate experience in a similar role, strong technical accounting skills and a team-playing approach. They will also demonstrate excellent communication skills and a flexible and proactive approach.

What you will do

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities.  Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:
  • Responsible for overseeing a small team to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and in line with deadlines
  • Responsible for delivering the Management Accounts for the relevant division of the business
  • Accruals, prepayments and P&L analysis
  • Variance analysis and reviewing to forecast models
  • Developing and designing cost reporting for the business, including analysis against budget and working with relevant stakeholders to understand the cost base, challenge spend and help to forecast future costs
  • Responsible for Balance Sheet and Control Account reconciliations and review
  • Completion of monthly VAT submissions
  • Continuous improvement and development of the team, supporting with ongoing study and mentoring
  • Developing internal controls and processes and ensuring all are adhered to consistently both within the Finance team and other teams in the business
  • Assisting with Financial Year End and Annual Audit
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop key relationships within the business
  • Assisting the Finance Manager/Financial Controller with providing financial information to the business and completing ad-hoc financial and business projects
  • Preparation and review of other key financial reports as required

Person Specification:

KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Part Qualified, or soon to be qualified, ACCA, CIMA, ACA – minimum 3 years working in a relevant role
  • Experience of managing a team and developing colleagues
  • Commercially focussed
  • Ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of role – consistently produces work to the highest standard
  • Ability to use Excel at an advanced level
  • Able to prioritise work based on deadlines and importance
  • Strong personal drive
  • Proactive in seeking guidance when working beyond current knowledge or experience
  • An inquisitive approach to all aspects of role and willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Experience in driving process change and ensuring a good control environment within the finance team
  • A proven problem solver - proactive in identifying issues within area of responsibility, recommending solutions and in implementing agreed recommendations
