Financial Accountant | Central Manchester | ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified | £50,000 - £55,000.

I am delighted to once again be working with a fantastic organisation based in Central Manchester who are looking to add a Financial Accountant to their team on the back of an internal promotion.
With a predominantly work from home week (1 day in the office) this is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a company that has an outstanding workplace culture and reputation.
Typical candidates will be ACA Qualified with a strong focus on their reporting and communication skillset. Technical experience can come from either an accountancy firm, or industry based financial accounts.
Salary: £50,000-£55,000

Location: Central Manchester
Main Duties:
• Feed into the financial modelling to enable accurate balance sheet and cashflow forecasting as part of budget and forecasting cycle across short, medium, and long term.
• Perform detailed variance analysis on balance sheet and cashflow actuals against latest forecast and present reasons for any differences.
• Ensure the periodic financial reporting is completed on an accurate and timely basis including the internal ledgers and external reporting to the shareholders.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations regularly as part of the balance sheet review process.
• Ensure that the financial reporting is compliant with FRS102 and IFRS where appropriate, resulting in clean audit opinion from the annual statutory audit.
• Responsible for improving working capital management and optimising cash flow.
• Drive developments in reporting and analysis by maximising the use of existing tools in the business as well as lead systems reviews and subsequent implementations.
• Act as a payment approver (including to suppliers, employees and customers) in line with the agree mandates.
• Be responsible for the period end balance sheet reconciliation file preparation, ensuring that all reconciliations are completed on a timely basis and full supporting information is provided.
• Review and submit mandatory HMRC reporting ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
• Review the periodic VAT return to ensure its accuracy and completeness before submission.
• Be a subject matter expert and contact for any VAT related queries.
• Ensure a robust control environment, including delivering training to the transactional teams.
• Proactively identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies, and make recommendations, both internally and within the wider industry.
• Act as a role model and mentor to staff in the finance team and support the training and development of colleagues.
• Maintain financial ledgers ensuring ledgers are open/closed for the relevant reporting periods.
• Work with industry partners to drive efficiencies, ensure best practices and accurate reporting.
• Any other duties as directed by the Financial Controller, Head of Finance and/or Finance Director.
Person Specification:
• ACA or ACCA Qualified.
• Relevant experience in financial accounts.
• Able to support the business function and senior management team.
• Excellent communicator, capable of disseminating financial information to both finance, and none finance individuals.
• Experience working in an environment with tight deadlines.
• Advanced Excel skill set.
