The Business
The British Engineering Services Group is the UK’s leading independent Testing, Inspection and Certification business. They are a private equity backed business, meaning they have the flexibility and support to move quickly and grow faster than any other company in their industry. They are an innovative, award-winning and forward-thinking organisation.
Background to Exercise
Axon Moore has worked with British Engineering Services since it’s inception in 2015 as a Private Equity backed (Inflexion) carve out from RSA Group helping them to establish and build a finance team from day one including Director of Finance and Head of Commercial Finance positions.
Due to a record-breaking year in 2021 and continued business growth (in both revenue and reputation), British Engineering Services were looking to grow their Finance team with a view to hiring multiple Finance Business Partners in addition to a Finance Manager in order to support business acquisitions.
British Engineering Services were seeking to improve their already brilliant Finance team by adding high calibre people to what is already a world class team. They wanted Axon Moore's expertise to help source and interview experienced Finance Business Partners with CIMA, ACA, ACCA (or equivalent) qualifications and at least 2 years' PQE experience, ideally in the service industry. The British Engineering Services Group has a unique business model, having multiple companies and being private equity backed. The exposure and environment for their Finance team is therefore unparalleled. Internal promotion is a regular occurrence within the company, something which is true of their existing Finance Team.
Our Response
Following conversations with their Group Finance Director and Commercial Finance Director with regards to their requirement and the variety of finance roles required, we took the following briefs:
Finance Manager – a brief was taken and a shortlist was created within 48 hours. The first candidate underwent an interview and was successfully offered the role and joined the business.
1st Finance Business Partner – a brief was taken and a full shortlist was generated. Again, following an interview process a candidate was offered the role and accepted the opportunity.
2nd Finance Business Partner – this role was a few months later and was under a new contact within the business. Based on the previous briefs and our understanding on the company culture and expectations, we created a comprehensive shortlist. Within 72 hours we were able to bring the candidates into a 2-stage interview and an offer was made within 2 weeks of the initial briefing conversation.
Outcome:
All 3 processes resulted in 3 successful placements, 3 extremely happy candidates and our relationship with the British Engineering Services was strengthened further. As a result of Axon Moore's recruitment services, British Engineering Service have successfully recruited 3 excellent candidate to their finance team.
