Portfolio Director

Axon Moore are exclusively partnering with a leading Venture Capitalist in the North West as they embark on the next phase of expansion.

As part of their continued growth and ambitious investment plans, this newly created role is an outstanding opportunity to join the private equity investment business of one of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs as Portfolio Director.

With a number of live investments in their portfolio and more investments due to be completed across the next few months, the Portfolio Director will take full responsibility for the business investments, working very closely with the Managing Partner and the investment team.

They will require a hands-on approach with regard to the financial detail of the portfolio; managing, monitoring and reporting on the breadth of assets and providing suitable, scalable finance infrastructure and for developing high quality management information, providing insight and recommendations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Implement, maintain and manage the portfolio.

  • Establish efficient reporting of portfolio results (vs budgets) for monthly team meetings, integrating this model of portfolio performance into period valuations.

  • Provide visibility around performance within the portfolio, any variances of actual vs forecast performance.

  • Drive best practice and consistency of approach. Delivering efficiency and quality across the portfolio.

  • Utilise both financial analysis and operational understanding to support and drive value enhancing strategies.

  • Work with CEO to appoint high calibre CFOs where change is required.

  • Involvement pre-deal in scoping and shaping due diligence, assessing management teams and co- creating the value creation.

  • Lead the post-acquisition integration process and work with the SLT to agree the reporting & information requirements including board papers, annual forecast and KPI’s.

You must possess strong communication skills, to be able to forge excellent working relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally, and have a high level of integrity and emotional intelligence.

Qualifications and experience:

  • This role would ideally suit a “Big Four” trained ACA accountant

  • “Deal” experience either within advisory, or industry/commerce

  • Excellent financial modelling skills

  • Outstanding commercial acumen and the ability to work as business partner to the Managing Partner

  • Experience of working in a lean and fast paced environment
