This business are looking for an experienced Senior Finance Manager/Financial Controller with a Big 4 or Top 10 audit background, to join them in a number 2 in finance Financial Controller role, reporting to the Finance Director.

The role will allow you to apply and utilise your technical accounting/controls and audit background within a very autonomous senior finance role within a fast paced retail SME!

You will take responsibility for ensuring that all external reporting and company legal requirements are complied with including year-end financial reporting, taxation, company secretarial, insurance and all banking requirements, along with delivering accurate, rolling weekly cash flow forecasts.

The key duties of the role will be:
  • Managing a team of 3 direct reports
  • Planning for the year end audit report and quarterly reporting
  • Statutory consolidation of the reporting packs
  • Liaising with external auditors and any other external advisors as required
  • Liaising with the PE firm and their Finance Department in respect of year end and quarterly reporting 
  • Completion and filing for all the UK statutory accounts
  • Supporting the wider Finance team on technical accounting issues Cash/Treasury and managing all aspects of cash and treasury
  • Providing weekly cash flow forecasts to FD with associated scenario planning
  • Maintenance of statutory books and records, including filing of annual returns and any other requests
  • Attending to the statutory requirements of all overseas entities
  • Be responsible for the day to day running of the insurance programme including credit insurance
  • Be responsible for all tax compliance work, with support and advice from tax advisors including the completion of the UK tax returns for UK companies
  • Attend to any ad-hoc issues that arise and liaise with HMRC on any matters arising including investigations
  • Ensure compliance with VAT and liaise with external VAT advisors on issues for both UK and European taxes
  • Have ownership and oversight of GRNI, duty, freight and FX controls along with associated reporting Controls and Processes
  • Develop, maintain and monitor any processes and controls relevant to Finance and ensure adherence throughout the business
  • Be proactive looking for savings in time and cost in Finance and also across the wider business

The successful candidate will:
  • Be ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified - Essential
  • Have full understanding of UK VAT legislation - Essential
  • Have full understanding of UK corporate entity statutory requirements - Essential
  • Have a good working knowledge of both UK GAAP and IFRS - Desirable
  • Have experience of analysing and interpreting and converting large data sets into meaningful summaries - Essential
